Keurig Dr Pepper Names Peet's CEO Rafael Oliveira Head Of Newly-Formed Global Coffee Co. – CoffeeTalk
Oliveira has been appointed CEO of the newly established Global Coffee Co, which will emerge from the separation of Keurig Dr Pepper’s businesses. This decision concludes a protracted search following the announcement that CFO Sudhanshu Priyadarshi would not take the CEO position. The new coffee company will include brands such as Peet’s, Keurig, and Green Mountain, with plans for the official split to occur by year-end.
During the transition, Oliveira will maintain his role as executive director and CEO of Peet’s and has also been designated head of Keurig Dr Pepper’s coffee operating unit. He will report to Tim Cofer, the current CEO of Keurig Dr Pepper, until the separation is fully realized.
Oliveira’s appointment is seen as a pivotal step in Keurig Dr Pepper’s strategic transformation. The beverage company secured $7 billion in funding from private equity firms to facilitate the acquisition of Peet’s amidst investor scrutiny over its separation strategy. Cofer emphasized the importance of this complementary amalgamation, asserting that it brings together exceptional talent, systems, and brand portfolios to achieve a collective vision of global leadership in coffee. He stated that these strategic maneuvers are essential milestones towards establishing successful companies in both coffee and refreshment beverage sectors, ultimately aiming to enhance shareholder value and influence their respective markets.
