Starbucks has appointed Andrew Corner as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Operations, aiming to enhance efficiency in its supply chain and improve the partner experience at its coffeehouses. Corner brings extensive experience from his nine years at Nike, where he held various senior roles, culminating as Vice President of Global Supply Chain and Planning Operations. His previous positions at Nike encompassed VP of Global Supply Chain Innovation and Senior Director of Digital Supply Chain for North America, among others. Prior to Nike, he worked at Burberry for five years, where he occupied roles such as VP of Supply Chain in the Americas.

CEO Brian Niccol emphasized during a Q3 earnings call that technology, particularly in inventory ordering systems, would play a crucial role in the company’s future strategies. However, not all initiatives have been successful; an AI-powered tool designed to assist employees in managing in-store inventory was abandoned after nine months due to reported unreliability. To improve accuracy, Starbucks is now focusing on consolidating its inventory count processes into a single, precise methodology.
