Bluewater Showcases Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Technology for Specialty Coffee Applications – CoffeeTalk

Bluewater, a water purification company, recently presented its reverse osmosis water treatment technology tailored for specialty coffee at Coffee Fest Los Angeles. In collaboration with Pro Coffee Gear and various specialty coffee brands, Bluewater showcased its Water Built for Coffee platform. The process utilizes Bluewater’s advanced SuperiorOsmosis system to eliminate harmful substances such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and lead, creating a controlled water foundation. The treated water is then remineralized using Bluewater’s proprietary LiquidRock mixture, allowing coffee operators to customize the water profile according to different beans, roasting techniques, and brewing methods.

Understanding that water chemistry plays a critical role in coffee extraction and flavor, Bluewater is marketing its treatment and remineralization process as a way to enhance consistency in brewing practices. Niklas Ivarsson, president of Bluewater Inc., highlighted the importance of water quality in coffee preparation, stating, “Water is one of the largest ingredients in every cup, yet it has traditionally been one of the least controlled. We want to change that.” Demonstrations at the event featured coffee from Proud Mary, Lamppost Coffee, Moxie Coffee, and Be Bright Coffee, the latter of which also employs Bluewater’s technology across its cafe locations.
