CERĒS, a leader in automated coffee solutions, has officially launched its latest Robo Coffee Shop at Rice University’s McNair Hall. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the university, integrates advanced robotics with artisanal coffee techniques, aiming to enhance the coffee experience for the campus community.

The Robo Coffee Shop is strategically located within McNair Hall, which houses the Jones Graduate School of Business and the Virani Undergraduate School of Business. The automated coffee shop is designed to serve busy students, faculty, and professionals who prioritize quality and efficiency. The robotic barista offers a diverse menu that includes espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and specialty drinks, all crafted with precision. Each recipe has been developed by a U.S. Barista Championship finalist, ensuring high standards for every beverage.

Cathy Cai, CEO of CERĒS, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are excited to bring this high-tech, premium coffee experience to Rice University. Our goal is to offer a new dimension of coffee enjoyment, blending innovation with traditional coffee craftsmanship.”

The automated system at the Robo Coffee Shop can process multiple orders at once, significantly reducing wait times and minimizing human error. The shop operates 24/7, providing uninterrupted access to premium coffee, even during peak hours. Feedback from students during the soft opening has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the convenience and quality of the coffee.

David Buehrer, a U.S. Barista Championship finalist and contributor to CERĒS, remarked, “As a contributor to CERĒS, I’m really happy with how tasty and consistent the drinks are from our friendly robot barista!”

Cai also noted the shop’s role in supporting the community: “Whether it’s a late-night study session or a quick caffeine fix between classes, CERĒS meets the coffee needs of students and faculty anytime, day or night.”

Sustainability is a core principle for CERĒS. The automated system is designed to minimize waste of coffee grounds, milk, and other ingredients by utilizing precise measurements for each beverage. The launch at Rice University marks the beginning of CERĒS’ expansion plans, with intentions to introduce additional units at universities, corporate campuses, medical centers, and airports.
