Australia produced a record $1.3 billion worth of almonds in the 2024/25 financial year, with exports to China increasing nearly 130 per cent.

A statistics report from Hort Innovation detailed that Australia exported 76,132 tonnes to China in 2024. Although the amount of almonds produced fell compared to the year prior, the crop’s value increased by 20 per cent.

According to the ABC, prices are rising due to surging demand from China, particularly for the use of almond milk.

Victoria exported the most almonds across four Australian states, with 82,333 tonnes exported – a jump of more than 17,000 compared to 2023. 24,962 tonnes was also dedicated to domestic supply, totalling AU$296 million.

The Almond Board of Australia says the nation is forecast to harvest a record crop this year of 166,892 tonnes.
