The Aotearoa Barista Champs is returning to the regions in 2025, with events across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.
The heats will be held on 30 March, 6 April, and 13 April 2025, with dates and venues for each location yet to be confirmed.
New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) is inviting venues to host and sponsors to support the competition.
Baristas will have the chance to showcase their skills by serving four espresso drinks and four milk-based beverages, all while demonstrating exceptional customer service. Three regional titles will be up for grabs, with prizes yet to be announced.
NZSCA will provide all necessary equipment, including machines, grinders, milk, cups, spoons, and tampers. Judging will be conducted by a panel, who will assess each presentation based on taste and creativity. Competitors will have five minutes to dial in their coffee and 11 minutes to present their beverages.
In addition to the regional championships, the Aotearoa Barista Champs will take place from 23 to 24 August 2025 at Whirinaki Whare Taonga in Upper Hutt.
NZSCA is also reviewing sponsorship opportunities and agreements, with details available here. To register as a host or find out more, click here.
