In-house packaging printing gains momentum – BeanScene
Trimatt Systems showcased its award-winning ColourStar AQV, a digital colour printer capable of printing directly onto coffee bags, boxes, and other paper-based hospitality products, at Sydney’s Fine Food Australia show.
Among those who stopped by the stand was representatives from Newcastle roaster House of Roast, which supplies coffee to several well-known brands across Australia.
According to the Trimatt team, House of Roast was drawn in by the quality of the printed samples on display, soon asking what the machine actually does, and how it works.
The answer highlighted a challenge familiar to many roasters. The Colourstar AQV is designed to enable businesses to print high-quality, full-colour packaging on demand, removing the need to order large volumes of pre-printed bags with potentially long production lead times.
Instead, packaging can be produced as required, reducing excess stock and freeing up warehouse and storage space.
The benefits were immediately clear to House of Roast. Servicing multiple brands means managing a wide variety of packaging requirements, from different logos and designs to promotional messaging and product information.
Traditionally, that has often meant committing to large packaging runs and holding significant inventory for each customer.
They found The ColourStar AQV offers a more flexible approach, enabling them to print exactly what they need, when they need it.
The technology also opens the door to greater creativity and speed to market according to Trimatt. Limited-edition releases, seasonal blends, short-term promotions and customer-specific designs can be produced quickly without the costs and constraints associated with traditional printing methods.
Following the exhibition, House of Roast installed a ColourStar AQV and now prints its coffee bags in-house on a just-in-time basis.
