Why High-Volume Coffee Chains Are Choosing Bespoke Coffee Syrups – CoffeeTalk

High-volume coffee chains are increasingly moving away from standard branded syrups in favour of bespoke formulations that offer greater control over flavour, cost and operational performance, according to Simpsons Beverages.

The UK beverage manufacturer says private label syrups are becoming a more strategic choice for multi-site operators seeking to create exclusive menu items while improving consistency across their estates.

Unlike off-the-shelf products, bespoke syrups can be developed around a chain’s target cost per serve, preferred dosage, existing pumps, preparation methods and distribution requirements. This can help reduce overpouring and waste, simplify staff training and support faster service during peak trading periods.

“Coffee chains are no longer viewing syrup as simply another ingredient,” said Caleb Simpson, Managing Director of Simpsons Beverages. “It can play an important role in menu differentiation, margin control and operational consistency. A bespoke formulation gives operators greater ownership and allows the product to be designed around how their business works.”

Bespoke development can also give chains greater flexibility when responding to fast-moving flavour trends. Exclusive seasonal flavours, reduced-sugar recipes and syrups designed for hot, iced or blended serves can be developed to match specific customer and menu requirements.

Simpsons Beverages develops and manufactures bespoke private label coffee syrups for high-volume coffee shop, quick-service restaurant and foodservice operators. With more than 90 years of beverage experience and a dedicated Innovation Centre, the company supports customers from initial concept and formulation through to commercial production.
