Accessible Coffee Tasting Education with “Taste-To-Ace” Cards – CoffeeTalk

Art of Caffeination has launched Taste-to-Ace: Cards About Coffee on Kickstarter, a premium 56-card deck which aims to demystify the coffee-tasting experience for everyday drinkers, enhancing their understanding of flavor, boosting confidence, and fostering a deeper engagement with their coffee.

Building on the success of its first deck, Sip-to-Suit, Taste-to-Ace delves deeper into the fundamentals of coffee tasting, offering an inviting alternative to conventional coffee education. The thoughtfully designed cards simplify complex terminology and flavor charts, making the learning process less intimidating. Each card features concise insights, visual cues, and guided tasting prompts, enabling users to articulate their tasting experiences more effectively. Central to this system is the innovative “Flavor Trail,” a unique 3×3 card sequence designed as an intuitive map for navigating flavor dynamics, from general perceptions to specific observations.

The deck comes in two editions: the Reserve Edition, crafted from premium casino-grade paper stock, and the Waterproof Edition, composed of durable PVC for practical use in brewing settings. While the Reserve Edition is a limited run exclusive to Kickstarter and will not be available post-campaign, the Waterproof Edition will continue to be sold at retail locations after the conclusion of the Kickstarter effort.

Designed by Vincent Lam, an industrial designer with over 25 years of experience in consumer and medical product design, the deck emphasizes usability and effective visual learning. Lam’s approach assists in transforming complex information into accessible formats. He underscored, “Taste-to-Ace isn’t just about identifying flavor notes; it’s about building confidence, enjoying discovery, and engaging with what you taste without intimidation.”

Taste-to-Ace is suitable for various settings, including homes, cafés, and cupping events, presenting an engaging and practical method to enhance coffee comprehension one card at a time.
