Vietnam's Coffee Exports to Thailand Surge as Thailand's Coffee Culture Grows – CoffeeTalk
Vietnam’s coffee exports to Thailand have seen substantial growth in early 2026, with exports reaching approximately 9,900 tonnes valued at US$80.6 million. This marks a rise of 22.5% in volume and 28.7% in value compared to the same period last year, as per the Vietnam News Agency. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, processed coffee now dominates, accounting for 83.6% of export revenue in the first two months, driven by increasing consumer preference for roasted and ground coffee, espresso-based drinks, and specialty varieties, especially in urban areas.
This shift is further aided by the proliferation of modern coffee chains in cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, which increases the demand for higher-quality, traceable coffee products. Vietnam has significantly boosted its share of Thailand’s coffee imports, rising to 35.7% from 24.2% in the previous year. Forecasts suggest that coffee consumption in Thailand may grow by 7-8% annually through 2032, potentially surging past 120,000 tonnes. Vietnam’s strong competitive position is bolstered by regional logistical advantages and favorable trade agreements within ASEAN, as exporters focus on high-value segments, including roasted coffee and instant products, as well as private labels.
