White Horse Coffee crowned Overall Champion at industry awards
New South Wales roaster White Horse Coffee has been named Overall Champion at the 2024 Golden Bean Australasia.
White Horse Coffee says the accolade demonstrates its commitment to excellence and places it among some of the elite names in the industry, including former winners such as Campos Coffee (2006), Proud Mary (2013), and ONA Coffee (2017).
“We’ve won a bunch of medals over the years, including a Gold Medal last year in the Elite (filtered coffee) category, which we’re super proud of. But we’d never managed to come home as the Overall Winner. We could not be prouder to be named the Overall Champion,” says White Horse Coffee Co-founder Dominick Majdandzic.
The roaster won a string of medals across the categories, including a Gold medal in the Elite category for its Colombia La Esperenza Laurinia Natural,
“This coffee is our current reserve range coffee and it’s been well loved, we have won this category three times now which is wild,” Dominick says.
It also picked up silver medals for its Ethiopia Gemede Adanech Natural in the Espresso and Pourover/Filter categories, and a silver medal in the Milk-Based category for its Christmas Blend.
“Our Christmas Blend is our best performer at this event, year in year out. It rocks. This blend is due for release in mid-November,” he says.
Continually seeking innovative ways to enhance their roasting techniques and flavour profiles, Dominick says the team’s passion and commitment to improvement have undoubtedly contributed to White Horse Coffee’s success.
The company has come a long way since the opening of its single “no nonsense” espresso bar in Sutherland in 2008. It now roasts for cafés across Australia and in 2024 celebrated its 16th birthday with the release of new blend Sweet 16.
“We’ve got a saying around here: You’re only as good as your last cup,” says Dominick. “We’re not taking our foot off the gas just yet. We could not be here without the full White Horse Coffee family – from customers, suppliers, team members, and everyone else!’
