Fixx Nutrition, a Burleigh Heads-based sports nutrition brand, has unveiled a new line of concentrated cold brew caffeine shots it has designed for athletes.

Announced alongside the brand’s partnership with the Gold Coast Marathon, the Fixx says the Cold Brew range has been created due to popular demand.

Each 50ml shot contains 150mg of caffeine, which Fixx says is the equivalent of a double espresso, and comes in three variants – Espresso, Zero Cal Espresso, and Mocha.

“A lot of caffeine products are either too sweet, too bulky or loaded with ingredients you would not choose on race morning. Ours is a 50ml shot, 150mg of caffeine, small-batch brewed so it tastes like actual coffee,” says Fixx Nutrition Founder, Michelle Buchegger.

“You can take it at the start line, at an aid station, or just on the way to a Saturday morning session.”

“We built the Cold Brew range because athletes kept telling us they wanted a clean caffeine option that did not upset their stomach mid-race,” said Michelle Buchegger.

Caffeine is a popular stimulant for athletes as it blocks adenosine, the neurotransmitter that makes someone feel tired. Through this blocking, you feel a reduced perception of fatigue and effort.

The launch of Fixx Nutrition’s new product is another instance of a functional coffee product, with most caffeine tablets often containing between 100 and 200mg of the stimulant.

The Cold Brew range joins the brand’s existing product line that also includes energy gels, endurance drink mixes, and cramp-relief products.
