The Allpress x HARIO V60 Championships are heading to Melbourne on Thursday 29 October, with the Melbourne Regional Championship and ANZ Final bringing together some of the best brewers from across Australia and New Zealand.

After regional competitions in Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, and Christchurch, the championships will culminate in one big night of competitive brewing at Allpress Espresso’s Reservoir Roastery.

The evening will see Melbourne’s local brewers go head-to-head in the final regional championship, with the winner earning the fifth and final place in the ANZ Final.

They’ll join four regional champions who have already secured their spots, competing for the ANZ title and the opportunity to travel to Japan for World of Coffee Tokyo in 2027.

Meet the ANZ finalists so far:

Dove Chen | Auckland Regional Champion

Founder of Grey Roasting Co. in Hamilton, Dove Chen brings some serious competition credentials to Melbourne. A two-time New Zealand Barista Champion, 2025 Cup Tasters Champion, and 2026 New Zealand Brewers Cup Champion, Dove is also preparing to represent New Zealand in Colombia.

His brewing philosophy is simple: focus on mouthfeel and clarity, with the HARIO Switch and NEO among his favourite brewing tools.

Derrick Huỳnh | Brisbane Regional Champion

Representing Hideout Specialty Coffee, Derrick Huỳnh brings an impressive competition pedigree to the ANZ Final. A former Vietnam National Barista Champion and winner of the 2025 PCA Brewers Cup, Derrick secured his place in Melbourne after taking out the Brisbane Regional Championship. With experience across multiple competition disciplines, he’ll be one to watch as the regional champions battle for the ANZ title.

Derrick earned his spot in the ANZ Final after taking out the Brisbane Regional Championship, securing his place among the five brewers competing for the ANZ title.

Leroy Coleman | Christchurch Regional Champion

Originally from Sydney, Leroy has called New Zealand home for around 25 years. A passionate home coffee enthusiast, he’s spent years experimenting with everything from home roasting to different brewing methods.

His approach to competition is all about balance and sweetness, with a preference for fruity, lively coffees. He’s considering the HARIO Alpha Switch as his brewer of choice for Melbourne.

Clement Ong | Sydney Regional Champion

Originally from Hong Kong and now based in Sydney, Clement is a barista, photo-videographer, and creator of CUPPERLØG, a coffee tasting diary app available on the App Store and Google Play.

His journey into competitive coffee hasn’t been without its challenges. After an early disqualification at BrewCup, Clement channelled the experience into developing CUPPERLØG, an app designed to help coffee lovers record and explore what they taste.

His brewing philosophy is all about keeping things simple and letting the coffee lead the way: taste, adjust, and taste again. For the Final, he’ll be brewing with the HARIO V60 NEO 01 in Amber, paired with the HARIO Switch.

Who will take out Melbourne?

With four regional champions already confirmed, there’s just one place left in the ANZ Final.

Melbourne’s competitors will have their chance to claim it on Thursday 29 October, with the regional winner going straight into the final that same evening.

Will a seasoned coffee professional take the final spot, or could a passionate home brewer cause an upset?

And with a field that already includes national coffee champions and dedicated home brewing enthusiasts, who are you backing to take out the ANZ title?

From the Melbourne Regional Championship to the crowning of the ANZ Champion, coffee lovers are invited to experience the Allpress x HARIO V60 Championships live.
