Nestlé Vietnam Launches New Production Line to Boost Instant Coffee Export Capacity – CoffeeTalk

On August 21, Nestlé Vietnam inaugurated a new production line for packaging instant coffee in glass jars at its Tri An factory located in Dong Nai city. This initiative aims to bolster the operational capacity for coffee exports while adding significant value to coffee beans. The activation of this production line underscores Nestlé’s dedication to supporting Vietnam’s socioeconomic development objectives, promoting technology transfer, enhancing workforce capabilities, and strengthening its connections within the domestic business ecosystem.

The newly commissioned line features a high degree of automation, facilitating smooth operations from raw material intake to the final products. Employing a closed-loop production model, the line is designed to boost productivity and ensure operational stability while maintaining consistent product quality that meets Nestlé’s global standards. It can efficiently handle various product lines, particularly Nescafé Gold and Nescafé Classic, allowing for customized packaging solutions tailored to different market demands. With an initial capacity exceeding 350,000 jars per day, this line substantially enhances Vietnam’s instant coffee production and packaging capabilities.

In addition, the production line signifies an advancement in the digital transformation of the Nestlé Tri An factory. Equipped with sensors, cameras, and real-time data management systems, it enables thorough monitoring of the production process, facilitating quicker decision-making and improving data-driven operational efficiency. The glass jar-packaged instant coffee will be exported to 11 international markets, with expectations for future expansion.

Binu Jacob, CEO of Nestlé Vietnam, articulated that this project aligns with the company’s strategic vision of advancing technology adoption and fostering human resource development. He emphasized the integration of technology with knowledge transfer and innovation, laying a foundation for enhancing the coffee industry’s value and improving Vietnam’s standing in the global value chain.

Prior to the line’s launch, Vietnamese engineers and staff underwent training in the UK, Spain, and Australia, working alongside international experts during various stages of installation, commissioning, and process standardization. This collaboration has enabled the team at the Nestlé Tri An factory to independently operate and manage the production line in line with Nestlé’s global quality standards. The project further opens up prospects for partnerships with local businesses in areas such as packaging, raw materials, logistics, equipment maintenance, and product quality inspection.
