UNSW delegation explores robot coffee potential – BeanScene

A group of students from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) has visited China to explore the development of robot cafés.

Welcomed to the Shanghai Hi-Dolphin Robot Technology Co., Ltd. they gained an inside look at the development and commercialisation of COFE+’s 7^th-generation robotic café.

There are already several COFE+ robotic cafés in service around Australia and New Zealand, including at Melbourne’s Burwood One Shopping Centre and Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

The visit focused on intelligent beverage robotics, technology commercialisation, university applications, and the future of automated coffee retail.

Shanghai Hi-Dolphin Robot Founder Dr. Han Feizei says the goal of the autonomous kiosks is to improve peoples’ lives, not replace human touch.

“Robotics should not be about replacing people. It should be about freeing people from repetitive work and giving them more opportunities to create, innovate and enjoy a better life,” says Dr Feizi.

“Our vision is to make high-quality products more accessible and let intelligent robots handle repetitive tasks, creating a more efficient, convenient and human-centred future.”
