Slayer to host Espresso Rally in Sydney

Together with Australian distributor Coffee Works Express (CWE), espresso machine manufacturer Slayer will host the Sydney leg of the Slayer Espresso Rally 2025 at Pablo & Rusty’s in Macquarie Park on 9 April.

The new mixed-skills barista competition will see 20 baristas battle it out to become the regional winner, who will go on to battle it out against six of Asia-Pacific’s best baristas during World of Coffee Jakarta in May. The ultimate winner will go home with a brand-new Slayer Steam Single.

The winner of the Sydney round will be awarded flights and accomodation to participate in the finals in Jarkarta. The runner up with take home a Mazzer Philos Grinder valued at $1659.

The competition contains multiple rounds, starting with a cupping to familiarise the competitors with the coffee. This will be followed by latte art, speed, dial-in rounds, then free-pour latte art rounds to determine the semi- and grand finals.

Spaces for the Australian round of the barista competition are limited and can be applied for here, and will be determined by a ballot drawn on 25 March on CWE’s Instagram account. Competitors will be notified by email and have 24 hours to confirm their attendance. Any remaining competitor tickets will go on sale at 5pm 26 March.

The Slayer Espresso Rally 2025 series will see the competition rounds take place in seven locations around the world. For those who want to attend the Sydney event, which will include food, drinks and a DJ, tickets can be booked here.
