MONIN Coffee Creativity Cup Final to take place 18 August
The Final of the MONIN Coffee Creativity Cup 2023 will be held at Slayer Espresso in Melbourne on 18 August from 7pm.
Coinciding during Melbourne Coffee Week and the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE), the competition aims to find the most innovative, progressive, and creative coffee mocktail designed by industry professionals.
“This is the night of nights, a chance to celebrate talent, passion and the finest brews designed from some of the country’s most inventive baristas,” says MONIN innovation lead John Davidson.
John says the level of creativity displayed by the finalists is a sign that the café community is willing to experiment and push the boundaries of their menus.
“We have the ability to help baristas make a really fun drink behind the bar, and our finalists have proven they can,” he says.
This year’s finalists include Danny Wilson, Head Roaster at Ona Coffee in the Australian Capital Territory; Jake Mai of Stitch Coffee; and Milann “Max” Murakami, a barista and bartender at Death and Taxes in Brisbane.
The competition theme is “Enhance Your Five Senses”. Contestants must make the most creative espresso based mocktail they can that enhances and appeals to all five senses (sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch). Each contestant had to submit a unique espresso-based recipe, incorporating at least 10 millilitres of any MONIN product.
At the final, the finalists will be marked on how well they incorporate each of the five senses into their drink.
The winner will receive $5000 and the chance to represent Australia at the world final of the Global MONIN Coffee Creativity Cup challenge in Kuala Lumpur.
RSVP’s are essential, tickets are limited. There will be an open bar with Espresso Martini’s flowing as well as a delicious food offering available.
