IWCA Announces Cancellation Of 2026 Global Convention In Bali – CoffeeTalk

The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) has announced the cancellation of its 2026 Global Convention, which was to be held from May 12-14, 2026, in Bali, Indonesia. This decision is attributed to significant disruptions in international air travel caused by ongoing geopolitical conflicts, rendering safe and accessible travel to Indonesia impossible for most of IWCA’s international members. Many members from Africa, Europe, and the Americas would be unable to attend, leading IWCA to conclude that proceeding with the event would undermine its core mission of connecting the global coffee community.

Blanca Castro, the executive director of IWCA, emphasized the organization’s goal of uniting women across the coffee value chain, stating that a truly global gathering cannot take place when geographic and geopolitical issues hinder participation. This decision reflects a priority on the safety and accessibility of its members.

The cancellation impacts a significant event intended to gather coffee professionals from IWCA’s 37 chapters worldwide. Despite this setback, the IWCA remains committed to its mission and will continue to engage its global community in 2026 through various initiatives. These include the “Build Bridges, Open Doors” fundraising campaign aimed at enhancing network infrastructure and leadership development, the Women in Coffee Access & Training Grant Fund supporting chapter-led projects, and regional events such as the IWCA Breakfast at the World of Coffee in San Diego on April 11 and the IWCA Cocktail Reception in Brussels in June 2026.

Castro reiterated that IWCA’s work will persist despite the inability to meet in person, with chapters actively promoting women’s leadership and economic opportunities within the coffee sector around the world. The IWCA also expressed appreciation to the Indonesia Chapter, Bali Beach Hotel, sponsors, and other partners involved in planning the convention.

The IWCA, with over 25,000 active members and more than 55,000 community participants, is dedicated to connecting and empowering women involved in the coffee industry through its extensive chapter network across six continents.
