BioPak calling for industry-wide ‘systems reset’ – BeanScene
Through its Give Back fund, BioPak says it has invested more than $5.8 million into charity and environmental partners since 2012, including $508,988 in 2025 alone according to its newly released 2025 Impact Report.
As a leader in sustainable food and beverage packaging, BioPak consistently uses its platform to continue to call for change in the space.
The 2025 Impact Report has seen the business call for an urgent ‘systems reset’ across the global packaging industry, with Founder Richard Fine saying BioPak’s impact goes beyond simply cups and containers.
“What we do might seem simple on the surface: we make cups, containers, and packaging,” says Fine.
“But what we really do is something much bigger. We provide businesses with practical, sustainable alternatives to conventional packaging and enable millions of people to make better choices every day.”
“True sustainability leadership in foodserviceware is not about chasing the easiest claim or following the loudest trends. It is about confronting the complexity of the system and working across the value chain to improve it.
“It is about supporting better research, clearer standards, smarter policy and infrastructure that matches the materials we ask people to use.”
Key highlights within the report include that 95 per cent of BioPak products are made from renewable materials, with 74 per cent of paper and wood products being FSC certified.
More than 6000 (6240) trees were planted in partnership with Rainforest Alliance, while 463,924 meals were donated via OzHarvest, KiwiHarvest, and Foodbank.
BioPak has also reported a seven per cent reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity since 2023.
CEO Brent Guy says while the past calendar year has been marked by measurable progress, there is still far more to be done to improve social and environmental outcomes.
“2025 marks a year of meaningful, measurable progress. But none of this progress is possible without our customers, partners and BioCrew who share the belief that business can be a force for good,” he says.
“Together, we made a positive social and environmental impact, expanded our product portfolio and continued advocating for systemic change.”
