A new chai-octane partnership for Minor Figures – BeanScene

Alternative milk brand Minor Figures and bp’s wildbean cafe are joining forces to deliver a churro-infused latte for consumers across Australia.

A fan favourite milk is about to enter a bold new chapter.

Minor Figures’ Cheeky Oat Churros – a crowd-pleaser since its debut on the market in May 2025 – is now featuring in an exclusive Churros Chai Latte beverage at bp’s wildbean cafes for a limited time.

Henry Catts, Minor Figures’ APAC General Manager, says unique flavour offerings, like Churros, creates a new way for people to enjoy Minor Figures and open the brand to new audiences.

“A Churros-focused collaboration with bp had been in the pipeline for a while. We wanted a platform for a broader market to try Churros, so partnering with bp’s wildbean cafe, which has over 350 locations, was the perfect platform to achieve this.

“Our churros-flavoured oat milk has been a cult favourite out in the market. Whenever we turn up to a trade show or event, the word spreads about Churros and we’re quickly overrun by people coming to try it,” he says.

“This groundswell of interest made it the perfect product for bp to add their creative flair to bring the Churros Chai Latte to life.”

Henry says when developing Cheeky Oat Churros, the brand was keen to avoid it being lumped into a category with the usual flavour suspects, like chocolate or strawberry milk. Instead, the team were aiming for a flavour profile that has roots in the café scene, pairing well with chai and coffee.

For wildbean cafe, this collaboration brings exciting new options to its customer base.

bp wildbean cafe Food Manager Louise Houghton says wildbean’s strong growth across the hot and cold drinks category shows customers love being able to easily stop by a wildbean cafe and pick up their favourite drinks and barista-made coffee.

And, when embarking on this collaboration with Minor Figures, bp had a particular customer in mind.

“We’re working to make sure bp wildbean cafe has lots of options and variety for our customers. Whether they are a commuter picking up a barista-made coffee and breaky wrap to fuel their morning, or a Gen Z customer looking for something a little more innovative,” she says.

“With Minor Figures’ unique design and marketing, our brand has a strong following with Gen Z consumers,” adds Henry.

“It’s amazing how often we receive social media messages with photos of people who have our mascot ‘Penny’ tattooed on themselves. Our brand loyalists go beyond brand support, to brand participation”.

bp and Minor Figures took time to ensure they landed on the best possible recipe that works for hot and iced drinks – and ultimately came up with Churros Chai Latte. Louise says Minor Figures’ churros-flavoured product offers a fresh take on oat milk, reflecting the brand’s ability to support flavour innovation.

By the same token, Henry says wildbean cafe is known for innovative collaborations with brands that bring fun and excitement to their customers.

Louise says that when Henry and the Minor Figures team presented options to create drinks with its Cheeky Oat Churros milk, bp saw the opportunity to collaborate, innovate, and create a unique product for customers.

“It was quite organic,” she says. “We bounced around a few ideas and jumped behind a coffee machine, testing different flavour combinations and formats – hot and cold – before eventually landing on the Churros Chai Latte.

“We wanted to create a hot and cold drink range for our customers, no matter where they are. For instance, our customers in Melbourne might be looking for the warm, comforting flavours of a Churros Chai Latte, whereas up in sunny Brisbane, an iced flavour might be more suitable.”

Henry says the churros flavour on its own in coffee is fantastic, and as an iced latte, it gets a smooth cinnamon donut flavour that complements the coffee.

“It works so well, that over summer you would often see me bringing my own stash of Minor Figures Cheeky Oat Churros to cafés to ensure I could get a Churros Chai Latte. Now, all I have to do is head to one of over 350 wildbean cafe locations to get my fix.”

“When our Churros oat milk is steamed, it really dials up the cinnamon flavour without being sickly sweet – the uniqueness of this flavour profile was worked with by bp’s food team and they found that it was a great play on a dirty chai, both hot and iced,” he says.

Having worked with bp multiple times before, Henry says he’s always been impressed by the company’s execution and ability to deliver quality products and offerings to the market.

“This collaboration has reaffirmed for
us that there is a strong desire for unique drink recipes in the market,” he says.

With Minor Figures starting out as a cold brew coffee company – before transitioning into oat milk – Henry says coffee “has always been at the heart of what we do”.

At the same time, it “likes to do things differently” – a tenet for the brand.

And with its products locally produced in Victoria, Henry says Minor Figures is excited to be investing in the coffee community here in Australia.

The rollout of Churros Chai Latte across bp’s wildbean café network is a case in point – with Minor Figures supporting the entire café industry, from specialty cafés through to chain stores.

“Minor Figures is here to help the café industry bring their menus to life by bringing an easy-to-use base for their specialty drinks menu.”

Looking ahead, Henry says collaborations with brands such as bp’s wildbean cafe are vital as Minor Figures cements its place as a leader in the competitive alternative dairy space.

“It allows us to showcase just how we can innovate and create opportunities for cafes to show up with a point of difference to others in the market,” he says.

“We will continue to look to partner with brands and flavours where we see an opportunity to provide cafes and customers with something delicious and exciting.

“While I can’t give away too much yet, we are working on something very exciting here in Australia which involves Churros, and will be a global first for the Minor Figures brand. Watch this space.”
