Blueprint Coffee Announces 5% Discount to Return Tariff Refunds Back to Customers – CoffeeTalk
From August of the previous year, Trump’s disastrous “Liberation Day” tariffs led to fluctuating import tariffs on green coffee, affecting U.S. roasters until the Supreme Court deemed these tariffs illegal in February. Following this decision, the government was mandated to issue refunds for the tariffs. Blueprint Coffee has reported that they have since received all owed refunds, both as cash and credits for future purchases.
Initially skeptical and cautious about the refund process, the company was committed to passing these refunds along to their customers, reflecting on the financial impact tariffs had on both the business and its clientele. The imposition of these tariffs in April 2025 propelled green coffee prices upwards, prompting a necessary price increase during a pricing review in July, and again in January of this year. By June, without having received any refunds, another increase was reluctantly made.
However, refund communications began to emerge in August, indicating funds would be arriving. Faced with ethical considerations, Blueprint decided against keeping the funds for internal use, preferring to allocate them towards customer savings instead, as everyday consumers bore the burden of the tariffs while large corporations profited from the refunds.
To facilitate this, Blueprint has introduced a discount for wholesale partners and website customers, offering a 5% discount with the coupon code “TARIFF-REFUND” applicable to roasted coffee purchases. This code has limited usage and will only remain active while funding lasts. The roaster expressed a desire to lower prices further, but would need to wait until the next pricing review in December to better assess market conditions, particularly given ongoing challenges in the global supply chain affecting specialty coffee imports. Blueprint expressed gratitude for customer loyalty as they navigate these ongoing market dynamics together.
