Uganda’s coffee exports experienced a 2.9% increase in March compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries. This rise is attributed to a good crop yield, reinforcing coffee’s status as one of the nation’s top foreign exchange earners. In March, Uganda shipped 671,152 60-kg bags of coffee beans, reflecting the heightened production levels. Over the 12 months leading up to March, Uganda recorded $2.4 billion in coffee export revenue, a significant increase from $1.8 billion in the preceding year, underscoring the vital economic role of coffee in the country, which is the largest coffee exporter in Africa, followed by Ethiopia.
