Coffee Quality Institute Revives Volunteer Program Coffee Corps And Puts Out First Calls For New Volunteers – CoffeeTalk
The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) has reactivated its volunteer program, Coffee Corps, and has issued its first calls for volunteers since going dormant during the COVID pandemic. Coffee Corps is a peer-to-peer education initiative that recruits experienced coffee professionals to assist producers in enhancing their knowledge on coffee quality. Since its launch in 2002, the program has successfully connected hundreds of volunteers with thousands of producers globally, aligned with CQI’s mission of improving coffee quality standards. CEO Michael Sheridan noted that the program epitomizes excellence within the coffee sector, highlighting the substantial impact volunteers have had through various activities, including sensory evaluation, post-harvest processing, enterprise management, and trade development. In conjunction with the program’s revival, CQI has announced four new volunteer opportunities linked to Brewing Better Futures, an initiative focusing on farm worker innovation in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Verité in Honduras, Costa Rica and Brazil.
