Italy’s oldest barista, Grandma Anna, is still operating at 100, serving her Bar Centrale in Nebbiuno above Lake Maggiore for over 65 years. Since 1958, she has been opening her cafe at 7am, closing at 7 in the evening in winter and at nine in summer. In November, she celebrated her 100th birthday, with a sign on her cafe reading “La barista più longeva d’Italia,” or the oldest barista in Italy. The cafe is known for its dedication to serving the local community, but many family-run cafe bars are running out of new talent. Despite her pride, many of Italy’s cafe bars are running out of new talent.
