UK-Based Coffee Shop Removes Its Prices To Let Customers Pay What They Want On Christmas Eve To Benefit Charity – CoffeeTalk
A Liverpool city centre coffee shop, COFFI, is introducing a unique initiative by allowing customers to pay what they want for food and drink on Christmas Eve, December 24. Located on Pilgrim Street in the Georgian Quarter, COFFI was established in 2021 by co-owners Michael Davis and Natalie Southern, inspired by the diverse coffee culture they experienced in Bucharest, Romania. This pay-what-you-want event aims to raise funds, with 100% of the day’s intake for coffee and pastries being donated to Claire House Children’s Hospice and Fans Supporting Foodbanks.
Claire House provides essential support and specialist care for terminally ill children in Merseyside, while Fans Supporting Foodbanks is a collaborative effort between Liverpool FC and Everton FC supporters aiming to alleviate food poverty in the region.
The event has garnered positive feedback on social media, with customers describing the initiative as “brilliant” and “an inspiration”. Alongside this charitable approach, COFFI has recently achieved recognition as one of the UK’s top 10 specialty coffee shops in the 2025 European Coffee Trip Awards, which saw over 22,500 votes cast for more than 4,300 cafés across Europe. This accolade highlights COFFI’s status as the leading specialty café in Liverpool, despite competition from renowned cities such as London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
The owners expressed their gratitude for the recognition and emphasized their commitment to creating a café that aligns with their personal passions, noting that the support from the community has been heartwarming. The shop’s dedication to quality and community engagement continues to resonate with customers and encourages local support.
