Tim Hortons Testing Recyclable Fiber Coffee Lids
Canadian Tim Hortons is testing fiber hot beverage lids in select locations in Ottawa and Gatineau for up to six weeks as part of its efforts to reduce single-use plastics. The lids are an improved version of those tested in Vancouver in early 2023 and Prince Edward Island earlier this year. Tim Hortons has also introduced wooden and fiber cutlery and fiber lids on Loaded Bowls over the past year to reduce single-use plastics distribution. Paul Yang, senior director of procurement, sustainability and packaging for Tim Hortons, said the company has worked hard on developing a fibre lid that feels like its current lids but is plastic-free. The fibre lids are part of Tim Hortons’ five-year journey to develop more innovative solutions for all its packaging.
