Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs has made significant strides in sustainable coffee sourcing by becoming one of the first European companies to purchase Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) coffee. This certification, which surpasses traditional organic standards, operates on three core principles: soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness, aimed at restoring ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and improving farmers’ livelihoods.

Jonny England, Green Coffee Trading and Blending Manager at Löfbergs, expressed enthusiasm about their initial procurement of ROC coffee from the SACACLI cooperative in Jinotega, Nicaragua. England noted the high quality and beneficial environmental impacts of ROC coffee, emphasizing that this move is pivotal for advancing a truly regenerative coffee sector and demonstrating support for leading farmers.

Löfbergs has a rich history, having begun its journey in organic coffee sourcing over 30 years ago. Today, it stands at the forefront of sustainability within the coffee industry. The transition to ROC coffee is aligned with the company’s long-term goals of climate action, responsible sourcing, and strengthening coffee communities.

Founded in 1906, Löfbergs is a family-owned business with over 300 employees operating across ten European markets, committed to taste, trends, and sustainability. Producing 12 million cups of coffee daily, Löfbergs is recognized as one of the largest buyers of organic and Fairtrade-certified coffee, encompassing brands such as Löfbergs, Peter Larsen Kaffe, and Kobbs.
