Luke Larson, formerly of Axon, now focuses on launching Vale, a beverage enterprise centered on matcha, aiming to replicate Seattle’s Starbucks model. His ambition includes expanding from local cafes to a nationwide network featuring automated matcha machines. After his tenure at Axon, where he significantly contributed to the company’s growth, Larson took a sabbatical and discovered matcha, leading to the establishment of Vale.

The company, which opened its first cafe in South Lake Union, has aggressive growth plans, intending to operate 100 portable matcha bars by year-end and 1,000 by the following year. Vale emphasizes technology and automation, under the leadership of culinary expert Jeffrey Hayden and a skilled team of software engineers and roboticists, all while planning to remain private for two years before attracting external investment.

Vale sources its high-quality matcha from Japan and aims to innovate with a variety of drink options accessible via a mobile app. Their futuristic self-serve machines, designed for convenience in non-traditional venues, reflect Larson’s vision of enhancing customer experiences with advanced technology. The company’s strategy includes appealing to younger consumers who favor cold, jitter-free beverages, with plans to grow the workforce significantly in the coming year, positioning Seattle as a pivotal hub for the business’s future endeavors.
