Lavazza On the Move, the Coffee to Go initiative from Lavazza Professional, has entered a significant partnership with Motor Fuel Group (MFG) to implement over 600 Coffee to Go machines across MFG locations in the UK by Spring 2027. This collaboration targets the growing consumer demand for quality coffee during routine journeys, integrating MFG’s extensive network with Lavazza’s coffee expertise to enhance the availability of premium coffee options. Customers can now conveniently access Lavazza coffee while commuting, refueling, or taking breaks.

The trend towards high-quality coffee is reshaping forecourts into popular convenience and food-to-go destinations, with research from Lumina Intelligence revealing that 84% of operators consider food-to-go offerings highly important to their operations in the next five years. This partnership with MFG aims to capitalize on these trends, making Lavazza’s premium Italian coffee more accessible and enriching the forecourt experience.

MFG will be the first UK operator to utilize Lavazza Professional’s innovative Coffee Essence machine, providing customers with options from two Lavazza coffee blends, including decaf and specially selected varieties. The drinks menu will also feature popular items such as matcha, allowing for personalized drink customization with added syrups and extra shots of coffee. The Coffee Essence machine leverages advanced technology to monitor consumption and user experience data, ensuring continual enhancements.

Ken MacIsaac, UK Market Director for Lavazza Professional, emphasized that this partnership is pivotal for expanding Lavazza On the Move, noting that MFG’s reach offers a significant opportunity to deliver high-quality coffee experiences anywhere. Adding decaf options is part of Lavazza’s commitment to catering to diverse consumer preferences.

The design of the Coffee Essence machine combines aesthetics with functionality, providing an innovative look while maximizing operational efficiency. It addresses evolving consumer expectations through a broad drinks menu, personalization, and a modern design suited for high-traffic environments.

William Bannister, CEO of MFG, highlighted that Motor Fuel Group serves approximately 25 million cups of coffee annually across its UK network, expressing enthusiasm for the new partnership. The collaborative effort aims to provide MFG customers with enhanced choices and exceptional value, reinforcing Lavazza’s reputation for quality coffee in the UK.

This partnership and the introduction of the Coffee Essence machine symbolize the coffee market’s adaptation to changing consumer demands, with Lavazza Professional and MFG working together to create value through high-quality, convenient coffee options that integrate seamlessly into daily routines, as Lavazza On the Move expands further into forecourts, convenience retail, and other high-footfall areas.
