Peoria coffee shop owner Ty Paluska has expressed concerns about tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which could make it difficult for his business to operate. Paluska believes that the cost of obtaining coffee alone could increase significantly with tariffs, potentially reaching 30-35%. Tariffs could also affect the cost of tea, glassware, packaging, cleaning supplies, and more. Congressman Eric Sorensen (D-Moline) believes that businesses like Intuition, which rely on imports for supplies, would be caught in a bad situation with tariffs. Sorensen questions why tariffing coffee is necessary, as it cannot be grown in the United States. However, Sorensen is not completely against tariffs, as targeted tariffs can work to bring jobs and manufacturing to the United States. Intuition Coffee + Juice owner Ty Paluska relayed his concerns in person to Congressman Sorensen.
