The health-conscious trend of “healthy pleasure” is driving a rise in decaf coffee sales, as people seek healthier alternatives to everyday food and drinks. The demand for decaf coffee in the domestic market has continued to grow, with the import of decaf green and roasted coffee beans increasing by 7.7% compared to the previous year. Ediya Coffee reported a 40% increase in decaf coffee sales in February compared to the same month last year.

Decaf coffee is particularly popular in the evening, especially after 5 p.m., accounting for approximately 30% of total coffee revenue. Since introducing decaf espresso in January 2023, Ediya Coffee has seen steady sales growth, with an average increase of 10% per month over the past year.

Starbucks Korea saw a 55% increase in sales of its decaf drinks last year, selling about 32.7 million cups, a 55% increase from the previous year. Sales of decaf drinks surpassed 10% of overall Americano sales for the first time. A Twosome Place announced that the sales of its decaf cold brew drinks surpassed 1.5 million cups last month.

The popularity of decaf beverages is also growing in the convenience store industry, with 7-Eleven reporting that sales of its Seven Cafe decaf product increased by 35% compared to the previous month, surpassing 200,000 cups within three months of the launch.
