A café in Dubai, Julith, has introduced the world’s most expensive coffee, priced at nearly $1,000 per cup. This exclusive brew is made from Panamanian beans, specifically the “Nido 7 Geisha” variety, renowned for their premium quality and flavor profile. Co-founder Serkan Sagsoz announced the arrival of this remarkable coffee through a Facebook video, stating, “The world’s most celebrated and highest graded coffee of all time has arrived at Julith,” emphasizing Dubai’s position as an ideal location for such a luxurious offering.

Julith is set to serve approximately 400 cups of this extraordinary beverage starting the upcoming Saturday. The coffee, retailing for 3,600 dirhams (around $980), boasts floral and fruity flavors, reminiscent of tea, with white floral notes akin to jasmine, citrus flavors including orange and bergamot, and subtle hints of apricot and peach. Sagsoz, who previously operated a café in Turkey, described the experience as “like honey, delicate and sweet.”

Dubai has recently gained recognition in the Guinness World Records for the previous record of the world’s most expensive cup of coffee, which was offered at a price of 2,500 dirhams. The new record, however, is seen by many locals as a fitting reflection of the city’s opulent lifestyle, with residents commenting it’s shocking yet typical of Dubai’s offerings. One resident noted, “For wealthy people, it’s just another experience they can boast about.”

To acquire these coveted beans, Julith participated in a fierce auction in Panama, battling through hundreds of bids to secure Twenty kilograms for an astounding 2.2 million dirhams (approximately $600,000), claiming the highest price ever paid for coffee. The café has attracted interest from Asian buyers, Emirati coffee enthusiasts, and collectors keen on obtaining the exclusive “Nido 7 Geisha” beans, which are cultivated on a plantation near Panama’s Baru volcano. However, Julith has stated it will not distribute its supply widely, reserving a limited amount for Dubai’s ruling family.
