India's Coffee Exports Set To Exceed $2 Billion In 2025 – CoffeeTalk

India’s coffee exports for 2025 are projected to exceed $2 billion, marking over a twofold increase in value within five years, driven primarily by rising global coffee prices due to supply issues. As of December 16, 2025, shipments have reached $1,968 million, a 21% increase from $1,630 million the previous year. In terms of Rupee value, exports have risen by 26%, amounting to ₹17,106 crore compared to ₹13,624 crore last year. Official sources indicate that the $2 billion threshold will be surpassed by the end of the calendar year and also during the current financial year, with shipments from April 1 to December 16 totaling $1,420 million, marking growth from $1,223 million the preceding year.

Despite the increase in export value, the actual volume of coffee shipped has declined by 6% to 3.66 lakh tonnes, down from 3.91 lakh tonnes in the previous year. This decline is attributed to a shift by some European buyers towards more competitively priced origins for coffee. Indian robusta and arabica coffees currently enjoy a premium over market prices in London and New York, with the Indian Robusta parchment AB premium ranging between $1,000-1,100 per tonne over LIFFE prices, while Robusta cherry AB is priced at approximately $400-450 per tonne. The arabica parchment varietal has a premium of 12-15 cents per pound over New York prices.

As the seventh-largest coffee producer, India stands as the fifth-largest exporter globally, contributing about 5% to worldwide exports of coffee. The country has consistently reported coffee shipments exceeding a billion dollars annually over the past four years, bolstered by strong market prices. The primary export destinations for Indian coffee include Italy (18%), Germany (11%), Belgium (7.47%), the Russian Federation (5.28%), and the United Arab Emirates (5%).
