Ethiopian Coffee Exports Hit $2 Billion Milestone – CoffeeTalk

Ethiopia’s coffee industry has reached a record high of $2 billion in export earnings in less than eleven months of the 2024/25 fiscal year. This achievement was driven by an increase in coffee shipped to the international market, where Arabica coffee prices are resurging. Ethiopia, one of the world’s largest coffee Arabica producers, relies on earnings from the green bean as a major source of foreign exchange. The country beat its previous highest annual earnings from coffee exports in the first nine months of the June-ending fiscal year. Increased shipments abroad in April spurred the record-setting export revenue in April. At the end of the month, Ethiopia’s 10-month earnings rose to $1.868 billion from 354,302 tons of coffee shipped to the global market, marking a 70% rise in volume and 87% increase in value from the same period last year.
