Bangkok Raids Seize Counterfeit Coffee – CoffeeTalk

Police have confiscated 226,720 counterfeit products from well-known brands such as Nescafe, Ovaltine, and Downy, valued at 2.63 million baht, following raids on two locations that led to the arrest of four suspects. The operation was conducted by the Central Investigation Bureau’s Economic Crime Suppression Division in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property.

The investigation commenced due to complaints about the sale of these counterfeit items at unusually low wholesale prices. After securing court warrants, officers executed simultaneous raids on a warehouse in Saraburi and a residence in Bangkok’s Thung Kru district, resulting in the arrest of four men aged between 40 and 59, who reportedly confessed to their involvement.

The seizure included a significant number of fake product sachets—168,588 in total—as well as 119 sacks containing coffee, cocoa, milk powder, sugar, and creamer. Additionally, officers retrieved over 55,000 counterfeit packages emblazoned with the trademarks of the three brands. The raid also uncovered machines for filling, mixing, sealing, and printing, believed to be used in the production of these counterfeit goods.

The suspects now face charges that include counterfeiting registered trademarks, possessing counterfeit goods for sale, and using another company’s trademarks with the intention to deceive consumers.
