World Barista Champion to launch Melbourne roastery
World Barista Champion 2013 Pete Licata and coffee competitor Maria Licata are set to open Caffeine Control Coffee on 1 March 2025.
The roaster aims to harness the evolving specialty coffee scene with what it describes as “an innovative approach to caffeine transparency and control”. The brand’s core product range will offer four distinct blends, allowing consumers to choose their level of caffeine:
- Full Speed: fully caffeinated Arabica coffee for a strong boost
- Slow Burn: moderately caffeinated for balanced energy
- Low Impact: lightly caffeinated for a gentle lift
- Smooth Sailing: decaffeinated coffee for relaxation
“We’ve all had days where caffeine makes us feel great – and days where it doesn’t,” says Pete Licata, Co-Founder of Caffeine Control Coffee.
“There are a few reasons this happens, but without knowing something as simple as, ‘How much caffeine is in this?’ we couldn’t start to explore even bigger questions. Caffeine Control Coffee is about putting that power into the hands of the drinker.”
For those aiming to gradually reduce their caffeine intake, the brand will also offer the 4-Week Reduction Plan Box, a curated four-pack sampler intended to help consumers explore various caffeine levels and discover their ideal balance.
The roastery will focus on direct-to-consumer online sales, available exclusively on its website. Pete says the company is also open to potential wholesale collaborations in the future.
