Single O launches new half-caf blend – BeanScene

Sydney specialty roaster Single O has launched Wush Wush Hush Hush, a limited-edition half-caffeine coffee blend.

The team at Single O believe low-caffeine options are going to be one of the big coffee trends over the next five years as consumers become more conscious of what they eat and drink.

“We’re seeing more and more coffee drinkers, especially younger ones, who want another cup without another hit of caffeine,” says Mike Brabant, CEO of Single O.

“Wush Wush Hush Hush is our answer to that, and a peek at where we think the category is heading. But first and foremost it had to be a banging coffee – all the flavour intricacy you’d expect from a great origin, with half the caffeine. Blending a high-scoring Wush Wush with a decaf is an unusual move, but it was a total standout on the cupping table.”

The 50/50 blend pairs Colombian Wush Wush natural beans from the Trujillo family with a Colombian sugarcane-process decaf. Single O describes it as ‘dynamic and fruity, with notes of passionfruit and apricot’.

Wush Wush Hush Hush will be available on batch tap at the roaster’s Surry Hills and Newstead venues from 31 August. To celebrate the launch, the team will be running a free ‘happy hour’ from 1 to 2pm on 3 and 4 September.

The limited-edition blend will also be available to purchase on the Single O website.
