Pique Coffee crafting mocktails for mental health – BeanScene
A Perth café is joining in on the non-alcoholic social trend and has partnered with Mens Talk AU to launch a coffee-inspired mocktail bar.
Pique Coffee, in the north-west suburb of Wembley, is shifting the face of after-work drinks away from alcohol and towards connection, and has started holding non-alcoholic mocktail nights every Friday in partnership with the men’s mental health organisation.
Pique says 10 per cent of all bar sales will be donated to Mens Talk AU, which aims to transform the landscape of men’s mental health and wellness.
Among its available beverages is the ‘Scarborough Sunset’, which is made using the café’s coffee cola.
The initiative has already found success in its opening weeks, with Mens Talk AU praising the creation of an inclusive environment in what is a shifting nightlife scene.
“Mens Talk AU and Pique Coffee are thrilled to share a fresh and inspiring approach to community wellbeing – launching a coffee-inspired mocktail bar every Friday night, dedicated to community, connection, and conversation,” a Mens Talk AU statement reads.
“This initiative is about more than just drinks – it’s a welcoming space where men can gather, open up, and support one another in a safe, inclusive environment. Tackling men’s mental health takes creativity, and we believe in meeting people where they are – over a great cup of coffee or a specially crafted mocktail.
“This event is open to everyone. Come down, connect, and be part of a movement that puts mental health front and centre, with heart, humility, and hope.”
Coffee and cafés are strongly influencing a shift within Australia’s party and alcohol consumption scene through the rise of alcohol free nights and events, like Pique’s mocktail bar.
The ‘coffee rave’ scene, which involves early morning, alcohol-free parties is taking off around the country, and are geared towards health and wellness over a traditional late night out.
Big players in Australia’s coffee scene, including the likes of MILKLAB, jumped on board, with MILKLAB recently holding its first Coffee Shop Set event with internationally renowned artist Tones and I.
Micrology Coffee Roasters has also been active in the Perth coffee rave scene, and threw a café rave at the end of 2024 that featured DJ What So Not who played a two-hour set.
