NZSCA announces Latte Art and Cup Tasters Champions

The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) has crowned Tsubasa Nico Nozaki of Flight Coffee as the 2023 New Zealand Latte Art Champion. The competition was held at The Sapphire Room in Auckland on 5 August, with 16 competitors pouring in the title.

Previous champion Yu Hsin (Dennis) Hsueh of Demi Urgos placed second and Daniel Woodhouse of Grey Roasting Co took third place.

In fourth place was Subin Choi of Kanteen, while Charanjeet Singh Saini of Independent came in fifth place and sixth place was awarded to newcomer Bryan Rajeyya of Grey Street Kitchen.

The New Zealand Cup Tasters Championship was held the next day at The Sapphire Room, where Pat Russell of Sucafina NZ became the New Zealand Cup Tasters Champion, scoring 8/8 triangulations correctly in a time of 2.06 minutes.

Han Jong Lee of Meebz Coffee Roasters placed second with a score of 8/8 in 2.16 minutes and Johann Chong of Meebz Coffee Roasters placed third with a score of 7/8 in 1.56 minutes.

Pat and Tsubasa will represent New Zealand at the World Coffee Championships in April 2024 in Chicago, United States and June 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
