Major Midwest Coffee Roaster Hikes Prices In Face Of Potential Tariffs – CoffeeTalk

Paramount Coffee Company, a major roaster and distributor of coffee in the US’ Midwest region, has increased prices due to US tariffs. The National Coffee Association has requested exemption from 10% tariffs on most goods imported into the US, as the US is unable to produce beans. The tariffs have exacerbated pain for the US coffee industry, with beans prices rising 70% in 2024 and 15% this year due to bad weather in key countries. Paramount stated that these changes are a direct result of recent government decisions regarding international tariffs on coffee and other imported goods sourced outside the US. The industry may also face damaging “reciprocal” tariffs, such as the 46% rate on goods from Vietnam, which could return after July 9 if bilateral talks do not result in a deal.
