International Coffee Tasting Returns With New ICT Benchmarks – CoffeeTalk

The International Coffee Tasting, an international competition organized by IIAC, is back with the new ICT Benchmarks, a tool designed to help companies position their products against the highest standards available on the market. The competition, which takes place in Milan from November 18 to 20, 2025, will award the Gold Medal to the best coffees, a third-party award based on a scientific method. The ICT Benchmarks will allow participating companies to compare their sensory characteristics with those of the Gold Medals, in full compliance with confidentiality. The winner will receive the Gold Medal, a third-party award based on a scientific method, which is increasingly sought after by companies as a key factor in their market credibility.

The sensory judges will conduct three days of sensory evaluations on various product types, including espresso blends, single-origins, capsules and pods, and ready-to-drink products. The scientific core of the competition remains unchanged, with sensory judges operating completely blind and applying strict sensory analysis rules. Only products that exceed the threshold established by the regulations will be awarded a medal. Transparency in the competition is crucial, with the formula for calculating scores awarded to competing products available on the International Coffee Tasting website.
