One of the best things about Halloween is seeing all of the creative recipes that coffee shops come up with around this time. We asked Barista Magazine Online readers what spooky specials their coffee shops were serving up this year, and we were far from disappointed. Here’s a list of some of our favorites.
Bantam Coffee Roasters: The Grey Ghost

We first featured Gettysburg, Pa.’s Bantam Coffee Roasters in last year’s holiday drink round-up, and now, the team is back with their Halloween special: The Grey Ghost, made with almond milk, marshmallow, and coconut for a spooky time.
Eco Cafe: Candy Corn Mocha

Based in St. Jacobs, Ontario, Eco Cafe is serving up a luxurious Candy Corn Mocha that’s the perfect way to celebrate fall. Infused with white chocolate and dulce de leche, then topped with whipped cream and candy corn, the drink is unashamedly decadent—because grown-ups deserve candy, too.
Kittitas Cafe: Coraline’s Garden + Walking Dead Lotus

Sip on the otherworldly at Kittitas Cafe. Their Halloween special, Coraline’s Garden, is a gorgeous combination of raspberry tea, honey, house-made blueberry syrup, and coconut milk—a whimsical ode to the season.

And for those feeling more daring, the Kittitas, Wash.-based coffee shop has also crafted what they call the Walking Dead Lotus: white lotus with green apple syrup and seltzer, topped with strawberry sauce.
Small Point Cafe: Monster Mash

Providence, Rhode Island’s Small Point Cafe has an all-star lineup of imaginative Halloween drinks, including the Great Pumpkin (chai with pumpkin pie syrup), Vampire Queen (London fog with dark cherry syrup), and Witches’ Brew (espresso tonic with blackberry syrup).
But our favorite from their Halloween menu has to be the Monster Mash: apple cider with rosemary brown sugar and a matcha shot.
Brood Coffee: The Carrie

Drawing inspiration from the iconic 1976 horror film, Brood Coffee‘s Halloween special, The Carrie, is positively frightening. “One sip and you’ll feel better than a girl on prom night,” the café writes on their Instagram.
For the haunting beverage, the Boise, Idaho-based coffee cart has crafted a cardamom and Madagascar vanilla bean latte with a “blood spatter” made of raspberry ginger. Other standouts on their seasonal menu include their Rosemary’s Baby (rosemary and oange zest cappuccino with an orange twist garnish) and Jack Skellington (turmeric, maple, cinnamon, and ginger with steamed milk).
Laneway Coffee Cart: The Bloody Lamington

Columbus, Ohio’s Laneway Coffee Cart shares that their Halloween special, The Bloody Lamington, is a festive twist on the Australian lamington: a dessert made of sponge cake dipped in chocolate and rolled in coconut. The dark chocolate latte is infused with raspberry “blood” and topped with coconut foam and a sweet and salty coconut crunch.
Until Next Year…
Thank you to everyone who shared their spooky specials with us, and we can’t wait to see what you all come up with next Halloween. Until then, stay spooky!
