FDA Issues Mass Recall For Thousands Of Pounds Of Ground Coffee Mislabeled As Decaffeinated – CoffeeTalk
The FDA has recalled thousands of pounds of Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, which was mislabeled as decaffeinated, across 15 states. The recall affected hundreds of 12-ounce bags of coffee, which were sold in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Our Family, one of the largest suppliers of coffee in the U.S., issued the recall voluntarily on March 13. The FDA classified the recall with a “category II” label, defining it as a situation where the use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA and SpartanNash, the coffee’s distributor, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
