Fairtrade ANZ has announced that Fairtrade Fortnight will return in 2023 from 2 to 15 August.

Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual celebration where Fairtrade ANZ organises promotions and giveaways in order to give back to the community.

The objective for this year’s campaign is to grow sales by building public visibility and understanding of Fairtrade’s role tackling the climate crisis as well as the future of food.

“Since the COVID pandemic, it’s not been an easy journey for us. Our organisation has felt the impact of constrained consumer spending power in both Australia and New Zealand,” says Fairtrade ANZ CEO Senthil Nathan.

“Fairtrade Fortnight is a time we cherish progress,” says Senthil. “We will run campaigns throughout the fortnight celebrating our licensees, consumers, producers and partners.”

Companies interested in participating in Fairtrade Fortnight will be supplied with a toolkit that will provide information and resources needed to officially join.

According to the toolkit presentation, the 2023 campaign highlights the urgent threat to the future of the foods we love and the livelihoods of the people who grow them.

“Fairtrade is not just simply powerful, but it’s a formidable force of good underpinned by the partnership between consumers businesses, and smallholder producers” says Senthil.

Fairtrade ANZ hopes that more companies joining Fairtrade Fortnight will help the organisation take a stand with farmers and workers worldwide for fairer incomes in order to protect the future of food supply.
