Cup of Coffee Costs More Than a Pint of Beer in Most Capital Cities

A study by comparison business Finder found that 51% of capital cities worldwide have a disparity in coffee prices and the cost of a pint. In Krakow, Poland, a cappuccino costs £3.50, while a pint of beer costs just over £3. In Lisbon, Portugal, pints of beer cost just £2.22 on average, compared to £2.76 for a cappuccino. In the US, Brits would need to shell out 20% more for coffee with an average price of £4.42, while in Italy, a cup of coffee could cost just £1.49 on average, 80% cheaper than the UK average of £3.47. The most expensive cup of coffee is found in Copenhagen, Denmark, where a cappuccino costs £5.01. To find the cheapest cup of coffee, Brits must travel to Antananarivo, Madagascar, where coffees cost the equivalent of just 81p (124% less than the UK). Travel finance expert Louise Bastock advises savvy travellers to look beyond well-priced cappuccino to maximize their holiday budgets.
