China-South Asia Expo: Coffee Industry Development Highlighted at Trade Event

11

The eighth China-South Asia Expo is currently taking place in southwest China, featuring an unprecedented pavilion dedicated solely to coffee. The pavilion showcases coffee from Baoshan, Pu’er, and Dehong, all cities and prefectures in southwest China’s Yunnan Province. The event highlights the development of the local coffee industry, with 95% of the country’s coffee coming from Yunnan. Experts in coffee cultivation, such as Shan Yunhui and Shan Yunhui, believe this is a pivotal moment for advancing the industry.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of coffees and purchase related products, as well as get inspired by the concept of wearing coffee. Traditional Wa ethnic brocade is being weaved using yarn made from coffee grounds, which have been transformed into clothing, ties, scarves, and other accessories.

New technologies are empowering the coffee industry, such as a robot that can brew a cup of coffee on its own. The expo also features products from other renowned coffee-producing regions, such as Ethiopia, seeking business opportunities. Exhibitors from Ethiopia believe that high-quality coffee beans should be shared through platforms like this expo, as coffee consumption is rapidly growing in China.
