Australia's supply chain challenges to feature at GCR Leaders Symposium 2025

This year’s Global Coffee Report Leaders Symposium, sponsored by Venus Packaging, will tackle the big topics impacting the Australian coffee industry – now and into the future – when the two-day industry event takes place from 20 to 21 March at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE).

Talking all things supply chain, transportation, packaging and green bean pricing will be a dedicated panel consisting of Dominic Enthoven, representing MPC International; Angelo Augello of Bean Alliance Group; Stephen Bannister of Cofi-Com; and Luke Terrey of Condesa.

The panel discussion, powered by the Australian Coffee Traders Association (ACTA), will take place in the morning before MICE on Friday 21 March.

“We need to be discussing the issues at hand, and how they are impacting Australian roasters. Knowledge is power, and in an environment where we have representatives from some of Australia’s most influential traders and roasters, it’s important we discuss lessons learned and how to adapt in a constantly shifting environment,” says GCR Leaders Symposium Moderator Sarah Baker.

Preceding this panel on 21 March will be a dedicated Coffee at Scale discussion between three of the country’s most prominent brands: McCafe, 7-Eleven, and Soul Origin.

Head of McCafe, Jared Chapman; Soul Origin National Coffee Manager, Sam Taylor; and 7-Eleven Product Owner Dispensed Beverages Liam O’Brien will discuss the evolution of the quick-service sector, how to balance quality at scale, coffee prices, and dedicated commitments behind the cup.

Leading the two-day symposium is keynote speaker Gerd Mueller-Pfeiffer, who will present to audiences on 20 March.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the coffee industry – primarily at the world’s largest coffee company, Nestlé – Gerd brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, and will discuss ‘the changing coffee culture and the megatrends shaping its future’.

Also presenting on day one of the symposium will be a panel dedicated to ‘emerging international markets and how to expand on the international stage’, featuring Michael Meates, Founder of Day For It Hospitality; Shae Macnamara, Founder of Expat. Roasters; and Jody Leslie, General Manager of Toby’s Estate.
