The Australian leg of the AeroPress Championship was held on 13 September at the Proud Mary Roastery in Collingwood, Melbourne.

The competition saw 24 of Australia’s best coffee brewers battle it out in front of more than 200 spectators, with Melbourne roasters Proud Mary and Fieldwork Coffee joining forces to co-host the event.

Nemo Pop of Jibbi Coffee Roasters in Sydney rose to the top of the pack to claim the title of 2025 Australian AeroPress Champion. Nemo took home the golden AeroPress, a Comandante grinder, and a ticket to Seoul to represent Australia at the World AeroPress Championship final in December.

“The atmosphere at this year’s Australian AeroPress Championship was electric – the venue was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with hundreds of spectators, cheering on 24 competitors who brewed their hearts out in our knockout format,” says Tim Hall, Director of Fieldwork Coffee.

There were many highlights including witnessing the wild and frenetic bean sorting the competitors undertook back stage, and the crowd pressed four-deep at the barriers to cheer them on. Three lucky spectators walked away with door prizes including a limited edition Comandante grinder, AKU scales from Varia, and the all-new AeroPress Premium.”

The competition coffee was supplied by Far More Coffee, a B Corp importer that aims to promote sustainability.

“The culmination of all the highlights was seeing Nemo Pop being crowned champion and receiving his golden AeroPress, a Comandante grinder, and a ridiculously oversized boarding pass to represent Australia in Seoul,” says Tim.

“The World AeroPress Championship matters because – in terms of scale, reach, and participation – it’s the global pinnacle of coffee competitions with more than 7000 competitors taking part across 70 countries in 2025 alone. At the Australian event, all 24 competitor spots sold out in under 20 seconds, with a waiting list in the dozens forming instantly.

“Over the course of our 17 years nurturing and refining this event, we’ve learned a thing or two about bringing the coffee community together in a sincere and engaging way, and it was amazing to see that atmosphere out in full force at the 2025 Australian AeroPress Championship.”

The sponsors of the Australian section of the Championship were Fieldwork Coffee, Proud Mary, Far More Coffee, Upstock, noissue, and AeroPress.
