AI Changing How Coffee Is Made And Sold – CoffeeTalk
Massachusetts entrepreneurs, Rob Whitten and Jane Lo, are revolutionizing the way coffee is prepared and served using robotic technology. P!NG, a drive-thru coffee shop, is designed for customers who don’t have time to wait for a barista or are frustrated with long lines at drive-thru stations. The company uses an app with a one-tap order button and a 3D picture of the car as it approaches the pickup area to ensure the delivery window is at the right height.
The company also uses sensors on poles to track customers’ proximity, ensuring the drink is fresh and the whip cream isn’t melted. The company’s software adjusts the delivery window accordingly, preventing ATM reach issues. Customers can order their coffee at any time, but it is made only when the customer is within 300 meters of the trailer.
P!NG’s pre-brew coffee is brewed to perfection and locally sourced, with the beans finely ground and flash frozen in their purest form. They carry various drink categories, including coffee, energy drinks, refreshers, and teas. Customers Boston 25 News spoke with appreciate the lack of human involvement in getting their drinks, with one woman stating that the coffee is delicious and another man finding it easy to use.
Lo believes that quaint coffee shops still play a role in the market, as customers value speed and the convenience of the service. Two busy first responders also find the coffee quick and enjoyable. A typical cup of coffee costs about $3, making it comparable to other drive-thru locations.
The current trailer will be in place for a few more weeks before they return to the lab to fine-tune their processes. They are also seeking investors and aim to create a franchise system due to the ease of running the trucks.
