Abra Group established a humanitarian air bridge to deliver over 40 tonnes of essential supplies to Colombia’s coffee-growing region, addressing the ongoing contingency. This operation was a collaboration between GOL and Avianca, involving two cargo flights utilizing a Boeing 737 freighter that connected Bogotá with El Edén International Airport.

The Boeing 737, originally sourced from São Paulo, was chosen for its compatibility with the dimensional limitations and operational constraints of Armenia’s airport runway. Notably, this marked the first instance of a Boeing 737 freighter completing bulk cargo operations at El Edén International Airport.

The supply load included hygiene products from the Association of Food Banks of Colombia (ABACO), along with food, water, medical kits from the TAAP Foundation and Bogotá’s Mayor’s Office, as well as warm clothing, toiletries, and dog food provided by the Colombian National Army. The logistics for the operation were managed by the cargo divisions GOLLOG and Avianca Cargo.

Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo, reaffirmed the ongoing efforts to provide assistance, stating that the response to the emergency has been a priority since the beginning, with the current transport adding to over 300 tonnes already moved for the contingency relief. This mission represents a significant collaborative effort among various organizations and highlights the commitment to serving the affected regions of Colombia.
